Scripture: Philippians 2:1-4

Intro: There are four hypotheticals in these verses we can answer with an undisputed agreement.

  1. Consolation: To relieve of misery.

  2. Comfort: (II Cor. 1:3-4)

  3. Fellowship: Congregation. (II Cor. 13:14)

  4. Mercies: Compassion. Pity. Sympathy.

Note: Strife (vs. 3) Selfishness (vs. 4). One accord means to have agreement, harmony of sounds, agreement between parties in law, meeting of wills or opinion, adjust one thing to another. (Mt. 18:19)

    1. The heathen get in accord. (Acts 7:57; 18:12; 19:29)

    2. The heavenly need to be in accord. What can you find wrong with your church that is not wrong with you?

B.     “All” committed to agreed program. (Acts 2:46; 4:24, 31)

1.      Gospel preaching added to the church.

2.      God’s power addressed by the church.

Prayer has a way of bringing people in accord who were previously in disaccord.

II.            One Accord In Preaching. (Acts 5:12)     Vision

A.     Agreed to unitedly proclaim the Word. (Acts 8:6)

1.      Salvation of sinners.

B.     Agreed to unitedly support the work.

1.      Through fellowship. (Acts 2:41)

2.      Through finances. (Acts 4:34-35)

3.      Through fundamentalism. (Acts 2:41-42)

4.      Through fruitfulness. (Acts 2:41)

III.           One Accord In Practice. (Acts 15:25)     Vital

A.     The scripture agreement. (Acts 15:22)

1.      There were some disagreeable: Retards God’s work.

a.      Disputings among believers. (Acts 15:5-7)

b.      Discord by being disagreeable. (Phil. 2:14-15)

2.      There was agreement. (Acts 15:6,22) Rewards in God’s work.

B.     The Saints in agreement. (Ps. 133:1)

1.      Pleasant: Good to see that in it.

2.      Productive: Good things said about it.

No problem with disagreeing but with disagreeableness.
