Dr. Bob Sensat

Dr. Bob Sensat (1933-1992). Dr. Sensat was the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Jennings, La. when he went on to meet the Lord. He was known as husband, father, friend, pastor, teacher, a preacher's preacher and a man of God. As you read the sermon outlines and hear the messages you will soon see the passion he had for reaching the lost, prayer and studying God's Word.

Dwelling With Jesus

(Operation Andrew)

 

Scripture: John 1:36-39

 

Intro: The question of these disciples was answered by an invitation from the Lord: Where (inquiry) Come (invitation) (Mt. 11:28; Rev. 22:17; Jn. 6:37; 7:37; 6:44-45) See (example) (Rev. 6:1,3,5,7)

 

1.  Andrew: Manly (Ez. 22:30) Conqueror (II Cor. 2:14)

2.  Andrew: Drew some to Jesus. (Mt. 4:18-19; Mk. 1:16-17; Lk. 5:1-11)

 

·    His name is mentioned in 5 books of Bible.

·    He came from Bethsaida (Jn. 1:44) “House of fish” or “Fishing house”.

·    His name mentioned 13 times in Bible.

 

I.        He Found A Man. (Jn. 1:40-42)

A.  Personal soul winner. (I Pet. 3:15)

1.  Where did he bring him: “Where” Jesus dwelt. (Jn. 1:42; 1:38)

2.  When did he seek him: “First”. (Jn. 1:44) Family.

3.  What did he say to him: “Messiah”. (Jn. 1:41) Spoke in language he understood (Hebrew). Simple. Messiah (Hebrew) Christ (Greek) (I Cor. 12:3; Rom. 10:13; Mt. 7:21-23)

B.  Personnel sought. (Mk. 1:17)

1.  Fisher of men found fisher of fish: Men of like occupation.

2.  Filled with God: Convert’s life. (Acts 2) 3,000 souls saved.

 

·    His witness resulted in 3,000 saved (Spiritual). Worldwide evangelism.

 

II.      He Found A Boy. (Jn. 6:8-9)

A.  The classes contrasted.

1.  The 10 (disciples): Skeptics. (Mt. 14:15-17)

2.  The 1 (Philip): Treasury. (Jn. 6:7) Calculator (Jn. 12:6)

3.  The 1 (Andrew): Seeker. (Jn. 6:9)

B.  This class considered. (Jn. 6:9) Leave it to the pastor to lead. God will tell him, not you.

1.  Seeking a supply: Found a boy.

2.  Saw a miracle: Fed 5,000 men. (Jn. 6:10)

 

·    His witness (search) resulted in 5,000 fed. (Physical).

 

III.    He Found A Way. (Jn. 12:20-24)

A.  Sinners in search: Greeks. (Rom. 1:16-17)

1.  The searching Greeks: Religious. Passover. (Jn. 12:1,20)

2.  The soul-seeking Jew: Philip. Tradition has it, one of these Greeks was Luke.

B.  Soul-winner in search: Two. (Isa. 50:4; 62:6; Eccl. 11:6)

1.  Philip came to Andrew: Knew where to get info.

2.  Andrew came to Jesus. (Jn. 12:24) Knew where to go.

 

·    His witness resulted in 4 books written for 1,900 years. (Mentally)
