Dr. Bob Sensat

Dr. Bob Sensat (1933-1992). Dr. Sensat was the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Jennings, La. when he went on to meet the Lord. He was known as husband, father, friend, pastor, teacher, a preacher's preacher and a man of God. As you read the sermon outlines and hear the messages you will soon see the passion he had for reaching the lost, prayer and studying God's Word.

A Good Heart Condition

  

Scripture: Jeremiah 12:5-11

 

Intro: The major problems facing us in our society, physically is the heart. When one develops heart trouble he will do whatever necessary to improve the heart even to a transplant. We need to give proper care and heed to our heart, spiritually. (Pr. 4:23)

 

1.  Christians have Christ there. (Gal. 4:6; Phil. 4:7; Ro. 10:10; Eph. 3:17; Heb. 10:22)

2.  Christians can have coldness there. (Heb. 3:12-13; Pr. 23:7; Lam. 5:17)

         

I.        Lay Your Family to Heart. (Mk. 10:1-9)

A.  Accept this to be God’s will. (Eccl. 9:9)

1.  Marriage is for life: permanent

2.  Marriage is for real: personal responsibility

     a. Hardness of heart. (Mk. 10:5; Pr. 28:14; Heb. 3:13; Pr. 14:14; Heb. 4:7)

     b. Harness your heart. (Pr. 4:23; Ps. 66:18)

B.  Accord your life to God’s will. (Mal. 2:14-15)

1.  Perfect will of God. (Ro. 12:2; Pr. 5:18)

     a. Dwell together. (I Pet. 3:7)

     b. Delight thyselves. (Heb. 13:4)

2.  Permissive will of God. (Pr. 19:14: 11:29)

     a. Glamour of single life not for you once you wed. (Eccl. 5:5-6)

     b. Glimmer of sin will not be in your best interests. (Ps. 81:12; Mal. 2:2)

 

II.      Lay Your Church to Heart. (Lk. 24:32)

A.  Get it in your heart who started it. (Mt. 16:18)

1.  Christ in your heart and church is not. (Jas. 4:8)

2.  Christ in your heart and scripture not heeded. (Col. 3:16)

B.     Get it in your heart who spiritualized it. (Acts 2:1-4; 2:41,42,47)

1.  Body united: Members part of body. (I Cor. 12:13; Eph. 4:16) (hold the body)

     a. The body parts must coordinate: organism

     b. The believer is part of Christ: organization

2.  Bride united: Members part of the head. (Col. 2:19) (hold the head)

     a. The two are one: cooperation of body with head. (Eccl. 5:1-2)

 

III.      Lay Your Convictions to Heart. (Eph. 6:6; Heb. 4:12; 13:9)

A.     Good conviction about self.

1.      Direction of life: proper paths.

2.      Destiny for your life: Reason for existence.

B.     Good conviction about scripture. (Heb. 4:12)

1.      That it is for your good.

That it will make you good.
