Dr. Bob Sensat

Dr. Bob Sensat (1933-1992). Dr. Sensat was the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Jennings, La. when he went on to meet the Lord. He was known as husband, father, friend, pastor, teacher, a preacher's preacher and a man of God. The Will of God for You

 

Scripture: John 7:16-17

 

Intro: The will of God is simply what God will or wants for you and I in any given situation or set of circumstances. There are some things you are by scripture, instructed to know and do as the will of God. (Ro. 12:1-2; Eph. 6:6; I Jn. 2:17; Heb. 10:36)

 

  1. Ministry of God’s spirit. (Phil. 2:12-13)

  2. Manifestation of God’s sufferings. (I Pet. 4:19)

 

I.                  Salvation is God’s Will. (II Pet. 3:9)

A.     Three tenses of salvation. (Jn. 1:12-13; II Cor. 1:10)

1.      Past: Been delivered (II Cor. 6:2) Penalty of sin. (Ro. 6:23) Blood

2.      Present: Being delivered (Phil. 2:12) Power of sin. (Ro. 6:14) Book

3.      Prospect: Be delivered (I Pet. 1:9) Presence of sin. (Ro. 8:23) Blessed Hope

B.     Truth test of salvation. (Jn. 1:12; II Cor. 5:17)

1.      Has there been a change? (II Cor. 5:17; I Jn. 2:19; 2:4,6,9)

2.      Has there been a conversion?

 

II.               Sanctification is God’s Will. (I Thes. 4:3-4)

Definition: (Ex. 33:14-16) Relationship with God into which men enter by faith in Christ. (Heb. 10:10; 13:10-13) (Act by the Blood)

A.     Personal purity: fornication (I Cor. 1:30; Eph. 5:26-27; I Pet. 3:15)

1.      Purity of thought. (II Tim. 2:21)

2.      Purity of tongue. (Col. 4:5-6)

B.     Practical purity: faithfulness. (Tit. 2:11-12)

1.      Soberly (as to oneself) Inward

2.      Righteously (as to one’s fellow men) Outward

3.      Godly (as to God) Upward

 

III.           Thanksgiving is God’s Will. (I Thes. 5:18; Ps. 50:22)

A.     Proper praise. (Heb. 13:14-15)

1.      For access into His presence (sin – self) (Ps. 100:4)

2.      For audience to voice petitions (need – feelings) (Gal. 2:14)

3.      For adornment to receive provisions (blessings – victory)

B.     Practical praise. (Ps. 22:3) “Thou inhabitest the praises of Israel”

1.      For His endwelling presence. (I Cor. 6:19-20)

2.      For His enlivening power. (Acts 1:8)

3.      For His endearing preservation. (Jn. 10:28)

 

IV.             Glorification is God’s Will. (Jn. 17:24)

A.     Catching up. (I Thes. 4:16-17; Ro. 8:29-30)

1.      Instantly. (I Cor. 15:51-52)

2.      Intentionally. (Jn. 14:2-3)

B.     Changing us. (Phil. 3:19-20; I Jn. 3:1-3; Tit. 2:13)

1.      Glorification.

Adoption. (Eph. 4:30; Ro. 8:23)
